Hyundai IONIQ 6 2023 electric car owner review

Hyundai IONIQ 6 2023 electric car owner review

‘Matte the Ioniq6’ drives a Hyundai IONIQ 6 77kWh 2023.

This is his first electric car, he’s owned the Hyundai IONIQ 6 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 270 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Hyundai IONIQ 6?

I had an IONIQ Hybrid and loved the car and the IONIQ 6 was the logical step as I’m fed up with the SUV style.

Positives

  • Comfortable
  • quiet
  • full of tech
  • just such a pleasure to drive.

Negatives

  • Bings and bongs when over the speed limit by just 1 mile! I’m told this is EU regulation
  • satnav is not the best
  • nothing else I dislike.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Too early to tell, just moving out of first winter.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults so far.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Safety warnings, lane assists, adaptive cruise control, HUD, wing mirror camera, remote parking, remote climate control, remote locking & remote charging scheduling.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Voice activated commands.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

Can’t charge in the rain, battery loss & charging network poor.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

None at this point, only had this one 6 months.

Home charging unit

Pod Point Solo 3 – no negatives yet, it charges at the time I want and has never failed.

Electricity supplier & tariff

British Gas Electric Vehicle V5 tariff – can’t say anything negative yet. Switched over to EV charging tariff at night. Still to receive first bill to check it works!

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

IONITY all the time, a better rate with their passport. Still disappointed how high public charge rates are across the board though.

Insurer

Sterling – rate was 3 times what I paid for my previous Hybrid. I haven’t had to use insurance yet so can’t say if they are any good. I will certainly shop around when renewal is required.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Hyundai IONIQ 6

If you take cost of car, insurance etc. I don’t think I am saving anything. Cost of fuel will be certainly be less but still too early to tell. The pleasure in driving is the thing that is number 1 for me!
