Mark Allen drives a Škoda Enyaq vRS 77kWh 2024.
This is Mark’s third electric car, he’s owned the Škoda Enyaq between 1-2 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-15,000 miles and he achieves 230 miles on an 80% charge.
Why did you choose the Škoda Enyaq?
Having had a BMW iX3 and an Audi Q4, I wanted 4WD and the seats in the previous cars didn’t suit my wife, the Enyaq has the best build quality and has fantastic seats. Dealer was also great to deal with. It’s the Enyaq VRS Maxx Pack with every option ticked, e.g. panoramic sunroof, towbar etc. The Maxx Pack gives HUD, DCC (dynamic chassis control) and memory seats, too.
Positives
Smooth, fast, roomy and just a great drive. Where we live in rural Cambridgeshire, the minor roads are very choppy and the DCC makes the suspension very compliant.
Negatives
Genuinely very little, as with all VAG MEB platform cars the brakes take some getting used to. I also put silicon gel on the sunroof twice a year to prevent creaking, again a known issue. Overall it’s a keeper. My son changed his Mini Cooper S for one, as he liked it so much!
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
No degradation, normally stick to the 20-80% rule with occasional full charge if doing a long journey.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
A rattle in the passenger side, which turned out to be a curtain airbag clip that was faulty. Škoda fixed the problem with a replacement curtain. Dealer did it over 5 days which was quick as the airbag was made to order. Very good experience (Vindis Cambridgeshire )
What are the standout technological features of the car?
HUD and adaptive cruise. Oh, and of course the stupendous torque that only EV tech can provide at this price point. I wouldn’t be without the DCC as it transforms the ride quality.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Škoda Enyaq
It’s an item of pure genius, a right foot footrest for when you are using cruise control. Why has nobody else done this!

New BMW iX3, Škoda Enyaq and I’d have a look at the new Merc GLC, too.
Home charging unit
Pod Point – just works and has a simple, idiot-proof app. I’ve had it for three years with no issues.
Electricity supplier & tariff
E.ON Drive, EV tariff – their customer service has been excellent and it’s a straightforward tariff. A few initial snags were sorted very quickly.
Insurance
Admiral Multi Car – it’s very good cover and a genuine discount if you have another car. It’s also competitive against other insurers.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Škoda Enyaq
Like for like, the Enyaq is saving me circa £100 per month less on fuel. Obviously, depreciation is a factor but on a competitive APR (mine is 0%) there is very little difference between the Enyaq and my previous ICE car, a BMW X3 30d.
