Genesis GV60 2023 electric car owner review

Vrf drives a Genesis GV60 Premium 2023.

This is Vrf’s third electric car, he’s owned the Genesis GV60 less than 1 year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 285 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Genesis GV60?

I had a KIA EV6 GT Line S previously which was good but I was offered £9k more than I paid for it so I  sold it in Nov-22. I then bought a Nissan ARIYA in Dec-22 but rejected it in Feb-23. So I took a test drive in the Genesis and liked it and the fact I had 5 year’s service warranty, maps included etc. I bought it and have loved it ever since!

Positives

Compared to the two previous EVs it is quieter and more luxurious inside.

Negatives

  • The boot is not the biggest
  • the turning circle is not the best.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes, no problem charging and the range has been the same.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

The rear tailgate was rattling so the engineer came to our house and the problem was resolved.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • I have the Innovations pack and the navigation and safety seem to be better in this car compared to the EV6
  • the cross traffic alert and the cameras are very good
  • the cruise control is very good too and doesn’t weave as the EV6 did (the ARIYA had major issues with the cruise)
  • the seats are very comfortable and they recognise when to heat or cool automatically.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The headlights are fantastic. They are the matrix headlights and are great on the country roads where we live without blinding other cars.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That they are expensive to charge. We have solar panels and all last summer we were able to use free solar to charge. We can also use a night rate. We powered our house last year for 8 hours due to a main supply cable being damaged in the street. We have since added a 10kW home battery.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Not sure at present. We might change my wife’s hybrid to a KIA EV3.

Home charging unit

myenergi zappi – we have it linked to our solar panels.

Electricity supplier & tariff

ScottishPower – we have no preferred rate and managed to top up the charge for most of last year using solar.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

IONITY – as the Genesis came with a reduced charge price of 0.23p/kW on super fast chargers for 5 years. This has since gone up from Jan 1st but still very quick when you make a planned toilet break and get a quick charge.

Insurer

LV= insurance – we paid approx. £350 last April for fully comp.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Genesis GV60

We are retired now and having solar has allowed us to save money on fuel. We bought the car outright and so far we are happy.
