Once it claimed to have added 1,000kWh in 11 minutes but the car battery was still empty.

Tell us about your home charging routine

XC40 T5 Hybrid has 11kwh battery. We need to charge it every other day as we have a very short commute. We charge it overnight during the week and anytime at weekends. We don’t have an EV tariff as it doesn’t seem worth it for our usage.

If you were buying a new charging unit now, what would you buy and why?

We have a BMW iX3 on order for delivery in Nov so are hoping the car has charging options. We’ve only had the Pod Point a few weeks but if we were to buy again we’d do more research into features.

Tell us about your electricity provider and tariff. Would you recommend them?

Good Energy – we are not on their EV tariff so pay 27.1p per kWh. They do have one which is I think 4.5p per kWh off-peak but our usage is low so it’s not worth us paying more for peak energy.

Are you part of a charger-sharing scheme for those who don’t have their own charger?

No
