Tesla Model 3 2021 electric car owner review (USA)

Greg drives a Tesla Model 3 75kWh 2021 electric car.

This is Greg’s first electric car, he’s owned the Tesla Model 3 between 1-2 years and drives 15,000-20,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 230 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Tesla Model 3?

I travel a 1,000 mile trip to visit family several times a year. I knew stated ranges were for 55 miles per hour. As the speed limit is 70 for much of that trip I needed the long range model and could manage it with my budget.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • The paint is so fragile, I wish I had ppf’d the whole thing
  • The trunk should have been a hatchback
  • The pillar cameras should also be available on sentry mode.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Over the air updates! HUGE
  • All controls on a simple screen that has easy design.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Almost every control that would require looking away from the road to view on screen can be given and executed using the right scroll wheel and your voice. This takes some getting used to but after several months becomes second nature. Personally, think I couldn’t go back to having to manually control air, phone or music.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Cybertruck or Model S if my crypto ever blows up😉

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

I primarily charge at the destination chargers provided by my employer (a large hotel/casino) free of charge. Large part of my purchasing decision. I use a few ChargePoint chargers that are free in a shopping centre 3 miles from my condo if I need to park off property at work due to high volume events.

Outline both positive & negative elements of your insurer

GEICO – almost doubled my rate over my Mercedes’ SUV for my Model 3. The fact that any battery structure damage totals the car makes for frequent total loss claims on Teslas. The fact I only pay to charge on long distance trips offsets the insurance increase.

Itemise how much money you’re saving each month owning & running an electric car
