At Electric Road, our key objective is to be as useful as we possibly can be for those considering their first or next electric car. In an ever-growing market there are many considerations, budget-aside, and this is where existing EV owners are so important.

Rather than just relying on automotive journalists’ experience of the respective cars, getting owner feedback is as important in the car buying process. After all, they live with the cars and what is important to a journalist (e.g. hard & soft interior surfaces etc) may not necessarily be as important to an owner.

Given the speed of development of the EV market, Electric Road believes offering a LIVE data feed of owner ratings is far more useful than an annual set of awards.

For Electric Road’s owner ratings, we only consider a particular make & model when we’ve received a minimum of 20 unique submissions for the vehicle. For the ‘Medium Electric Car’ category, we base it on cars with a length of 4,101 – 4,500 mm.

We ask EV owners to rate the key aspects of their car(s) out of 5 electricity bolts and importantly, relative to their expectations. Then their overall score is automatically worked out and is then included as part of the overall rating for that particular EV.

The areas EV owners are asked to rate are as follows:

1.Reliability

2.Tech

Based on the integrated software, Over the Air updates (OTA), safety features & hardware e.g. display screen, sat nav etc.

3.Battery

Based on charging time, battery capacity/range & flexibility.

4.Interior

based on elements such as design, dashboard layout, level of comfort, storage space & the level of overall quality inside the car.

5.Exterior

Based on elements such as the car’s styling, aerodynamics, design and position of charging port(s)
