Honda e:Ny1 2024 electric car owner review

Neil i3roadtrip drives a Honda e:NY1 68kWh 2024.

This is Neil’s third electric car, he’s owned the Honda e:Ny1 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 0-500 miles and he achieves 250 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Honda e:Ny1?

When I first made it known I was considering a Honda e:NY1 I was surprised how much negativity I received. The principal reason for going this way was my i3 was getting very ‘mileagy’ and I had a significant amount of negative equity. Honda were offering a very generous contribution which dealt with that and still provided a sensible monthly payment. Something BMW weren’t interested in despite my loyalty to the brand.

Sometimes it pays to think a bit left field. I test drove the e:NY1 at Brindley Honda, Cannock and was very impressed. The main features for me were amazing comfort, a real premium interior, masses of safety kit and a better range. A deal was struck and 2 weeks later I took delivery.

The e:NY1 is a lovely smooth drive with plenty of grunt when needed, quicker than my i3 anyway. You have 2 options for regenerative braking. In normal drive mode, its variable using a flappy paddle and in sport, it’s really full on!

Positives

  • Premium interior and amazing build quality
  • lots of grunt!
  • masses of tech and safety kit
  • supreme comfort
  • it’s a bit quirky but I love that!

Negatives

  • Nothing so far to be honest.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults so far!

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Warnings and assistance for every eventuality but it’s not overbearing
  • amazing big centre screen which is clear and quick with no lag, it’s also customisable
  • adaptive cruise control is amazing.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The power flow monitor tells you how much power and mileage it’s taking. The car has a brilliant ventilation system which allows you to actually switch off the climate control if it’s not too cold and damp and will ensure the windows don’t fog up thus increasing range by up to 30 miles.

Just on a standard tariff at the moment.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

GRIDSERVE – efficient and reliable generally.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Honda e:NY1

It’s a lot, lol!
