Public charging review - Skoda Enyaq IV80, Mr T

Mr T runs a Skoda ENYAQ iV 80 electric car comments on public charging.

What do you think of the UK public charging network in general?

To be honest, I mainly charge on the home charger. We have relatives in Scotland and every time we travel we have issues with charging times, availability and arguments because everyone in the family is used to ICE traveling!

What and where are your favourite UK public chargers?

So far…none, I have yet to have a problem-free public charge.

What’s been your best experience with a UK public charger in your ENYAQ?

None…all negative experiences.

What’s been your worst experience with a UK public charger?

IONITY Gretna.

What’s got to change about public charging in the UK to get more people driving electric cars?

  • Better education on the benefits and how to travel with an EV e.g. target stop (top-up) SOC.
  • Guidance given by charging networks should be on point. e.g. arrival with less than 25% can result in very slow charge times (even on 125kW chargers).
