Citroen E-C4 2022 electric car owner review

Steve drives a Citroen E-C4 50kWh 2022 electric car.

This is Steve’s fourth electric car, he’s owned the Citroen E-C4 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 165 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Citroen E-C4?

Cheaper motoring! When I bought my 1st EV (a BMW i3) I lived in a 2nd floor flat and there were free charge points in the village.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Nothing out of the ordinary really.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Toyota bZX4 – excellent mainstream manufacturer with a lot of hybrid experience and good reliability.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

I use a Commando plug with an Ohme charger cable. This provides excellent functionality at a fraction of the cost of a ‘standard’ fixed charger. Only £150 (with Octopus discount) vs £700 +. Good app functionality that integrates with Octopus tariff for easy cheap charging.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Intelligent Octopus has cheap 5hr rate 7.5p but high standard rate of 38.5p. I’m considering switching back to full agile as electricity rates have eased.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

IONITY, InstaVolt & Fastned. All have multiple stalls with live ‘in use’ information so high reliability in being able to find a vacant working unit.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

LV – just a standard insurer, nothing special.

Please itemise where you’re saving money owning & running an electric car

Saving £150 per month in fuel charges as can charge at home for 7.5p/kw (2p/mile) compared with 18p/mile for comparable ICE car.
