Ford Mustang Mach-E 2022 electric car owner review

MJH58 drives a Mustang Mach-E RWD ER 98.8kWh electric car 2022.

This is MJH58’s first electric car, they’ve owned the Mach-E under 1 year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and they achieve 320 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?

I test drove the Jaguar I-PACE & the Mustang Mach-E. Although the I-PACE I tested was of a higher spec than the Mach-E, I immediately fell in love with the smooth exterior lines of the Mach-E, as well as it’s gadget-laden interior. At the time, the Mustang Mach-E also had the longest range, after the Teslas, which was instrumental to me in making my final choice. I’ve had my Mach-E for 7 months now and am so pleased this was the EV that I opted for!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • I love the smooth exterior lines of the Mach-E
  • the spacious, comfortable interior
  • and the amazing range!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

The only thing I really dislike about this car is my choice of colour – Absolute Black! On reflection, this was a bad choice, because, no matter how frequently I wash the car, it looks dirty within ten minutes because black shows up every speck of dust!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

I have experienced no faults with the car.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The standout technological features of the car include it’s huge display screen (about the size of an iPad), the superb Bang & Olufsen 10 speaker sound system, the various driving modes (‘Whisper’ & ‘Untamed’ among them), and full CarPlay & Google Play connectivity for your mobile!

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Because there is no engine in an EV, Ford have taken advantage of this to include some handy storage space in the front of the Mustang Mach-E, under what our American cousins refer to as the ‘frunk’ (i.e. the FRont trUNK)! I use mine to store the charging cables or a decent-sized cold box!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Another Mach-E in a few years time, by when the range will be even more awesome!

Outline both positive & negative elements of your home charging unit

Rolec HomeSmart 7.2kW – it’s very easy to use, comes with a simple-to-use app, and, so far, has been very reliable. On the downside, I’m a bit of a gadget-fiend, so I would like to have seen more info provided within the app (charging rates, more detailed info on cost to charge on different tariffs, etc.).

Outline both positive & negative elements of your electricity supplier & tariff

Bulb EV tariff – cheap rate of 8.09p per kWh from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night, so it costs me < £1 to add just over 50 miles of range when I charge off-peak!

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Outline both positive & negative elements of your insurer

Churchill – good service so far (no claims made), although other providers are now significantly cheaper (now that insurers have a better understanding & more experience of what EVs are all about).
