What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
MG4 – it looks quite smart and should be reasonably affordable.
Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements
Wallbox Pulsar Plus – chose this as it can vary the charging power from 6 to 30 amps which enables me to use spare power from solar more effectively. I have integrated it to my smart home system (Home Assistant) to enable charging and alter the charging power to match excess solar power.
Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements
Octopus G0 – 00:30 – 04:30, 7.5p overnight 31p day. Still seems to be about the cheapest way to charge the car from the grid, no real negatives.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
- IONITY – pretty easy to use
- Appletree – very easy to use with a good informative display
- Pod Point – easy to use and free at my local Sainsbury’s
- bp pulse – very rarely get it to work.
Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements
LV – good price and EV-specific cover which includes running out of power, covers home charge points and cables too.
