Kia EV6 2022 electric car owner review

Kia EV6 2022 electric car owner review

Nige drives a Kia EV6 GT Line S 77kWh 2022 electric car.

This is Nige’s first electric car, he’s owned the Kia EV6 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 280 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Kia EV6?

Loved the design, read lots of reviews on lots of different EVs and the EV6 seemed to tick more boxes than a lot of the others. Good selection of kit included and actually like the fact that there are currently only three trim levels and not lots of optional add-ons which means it’s easier to compare prices of other EVs.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • It looks great
  • it’s a great drive particularly on the motorway using highway driving assist
  • it charges up pretty quick if you can find a rapid charge point.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • It’s big which can make parking a bit scary, although the cameras and all-round view helps
  • it’s very quiet so people step out in front of me!
  • the runway red paint looks great but I haven’t had time to wash it regularly so it looks like a dust magnet!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults. One recall on the handbrake software completed.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Highway driving assistant on motorways works really well, the head up display is very effective and I love the camera view on the dashboard when indicating.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Nice feature on route planning that tells you if you have sufficient charge for the journey.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

None currently. Only three months into a three year lease.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Hypervolt – small and neat charger that looks good. Ability to smart charge. Provides data on charges although took a while to get accurate data.

electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Not much to say in the current climate. Hate to think how much it will cost to charge in October.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Fastned – used sites in Sunderland & Newcastle. Big bays that are easy to park in, under cover and choice of fast speeds from 50 to 150, I think.
