Honda e 2021 electric car owner review

Honda e 2021 electric car owner review

Fun drives a Honda e Advance 28.5kWh 2021 electric car.

This is Fun’s first electric car, he’s owned the Honda e 1-2 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 100 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Honda e?

I wanted something different, nimble and fun to drive.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Ride is great comfortable but firm
  • turns head, had it for 15 months and I’ve seen only 3 others
  • lots of tech like cameras for mirrors.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Poor range
  • small boot
  • expensive.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Initially had to take car to dealer to get app to work.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Camera for side mirrors
  • Camera for rear mirror
  • Lane departure warning
  • Parking cameras
  • Self-parking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 240v socket
  • HDMI input to screen
  • Paddle operated regenerative braking
  • Heated seat
  • Heated steering wheel.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The 240v 3 pin socket is very useful, I use it to power my garden office during the day (charging at night at 7.5pkWh). The 3 pin socket, HDMI socket allows you to play a console (Nintendo Switch) while you’re charging.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Very difficult to find something as ‘funky’ as the Honda e, maybe a VW ID. Buzz?

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

  • Home charging is via an EO Mini at 7.2kW max
  • Works well but the App is basic.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

I charge nearly always at night via Octopus Go which is cheap (7.5p/kWh) from midnight until 04:30.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

  • I like Gridserve public chargers as they use debit cards
  • Also, Pod Points at Lidl are cheap.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Car is insured with Flow (an arm of LV) – £356 with wife and 25 year old son as named drivers.

Itemise how much money you’re saving owning & running your Honda e

I wouldn’t have this car as my only vehicle as the range is to low. It costs £400 month on a 3 year PCP deal, my commute to work is about 40 miles at 2p a mile. I’ve always had two cars so having one as electric made sense.
