This is Lisa’s first electric car, she’s owned the Corsa-e from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 500-1,000 miles and she achieves 205 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose this electric car?

We had recently been given a lift in a Tesla and the driver demonstrated the acceleration. Well that certainly got my attention! We had a Kia Sportage that was gutless and were already thinking about swapping it so we went down to our local Vauxhall dealer to test drive the Corsa-e. As I pulled away from the garage I was impressed with how effortless it was to drive, so smooth and quiet. Then I got to try the Sport button! With that, I was ready to sign the paperwork!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car.

  • Looks – the Corsa-e is a smart looking car with its black roof!
  • Acceleration – need I say anymore!
  • Fuel (or lack of!) – charging for free at supermarkets while doing my food shop or charging at home for far less than the £1.80+/litre for unleaded!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car.

  • Space in the back – although it looks really small, so far passengers have said they have plenty of room
  • Boot space, especially having to carry the charger
  • I can’t think of another reason, I love mine!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Approx. 5 weeks in, the car wouldn’t start after shopping in Tesco, it wouldn’t charge either. Took it back to the garage and it needed a major software update. All seems to be OK now.

What are the standout tech features of the car?

I like the regen braking when in traffic. I use this to send the power from braking back to the battery.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car.

For a small car, the Corsa-e is packed with those little luxuries like heated seats, heated steering wheel and windscreen. This is the second Corsa I’ve owned and it hands down beats other cars in its class for those added extras.

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

Who knows?!! There are new releases all the time! Maybe a slightly bigger model. Following groups on social media, the MGs seem to be a range to look at with some very happy owners.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

At the moment we only have the 3-pin plug charger. This works for us as we don’t do many miles each week and a supermarket charge keeps us going. If we end up doing more miles we may consider having a charger installed.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

We are just on a standard tariff with Octopus Energy. When we renew we will look at a night-time tariff for charging.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

I have only used Pod Point so far. No issues experienced.

Who do you insure your electric car with? Would you recommend them to others and why?

We are insured with LV – no difference to insuring my Kia, competitive and great customer service.
