Why did you choose this car?
It was the best fit available at the time. Essential for me, it was UK made.
Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car.
- It is amazingly relaxing to drive
- it is cheap to run and maintain
- it produces no exhaust fumes.
Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car.
- There is nothing I don’t like about the car!
Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
I can drive long distances without tiring, unlike my previous cars.
What car are you interested in next and why?
I have no plans to buy another car. I expect my LEAF to suit my needs for at least another ten years.
What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
I have a Rolec charger. I would recommend it because it is simple and the single fault identified with this charger is easily fixed, with parts provided free. However, the model I have is dated in that it has no ‘smart’ functions.
What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
I use Good Energy standard tariff. They have a cheap night-time tariff but as I have solar panels for daytime charging I don’t use the night tariff. I recommend Good Energy because they are the only supplier producing more electricity than they sell to their retail customers.
What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?
I use whatever charging networks I find on my travels. Gridserve, ChargePlace Scotland and Instavolt are those I have used most. Gridserve is currently less reliable as it is in the middle of a major replacement process. However, I recently did a 1,900 mile trip from Bristol to Orkney and back, and apart from actual charging time, over approximately 30 charges I spent about two extra hours in total waiting for a charger to be vacated, or dealing with other charging related problems.
Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Churchill – they suit my needs and are not expensive. I have never made an insurance claim on a car, so I can’t comment on their claims handling.
