Hyundai Kona N Line 2025 Owner Review

Hyundai Kona N Line 2025 Owner Review

Stephen Porter drives a Hyundai Kona N Line S 64.8 kWh 2025.

This is Stephen’s first electric car, he’s owned the Kona N Line S less than a year and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 220 miles from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the Hyundai Kona N Line S?

I always liked the look of the Kona and it has a good range. The Hyundai brand is always good value; I’ve driven a petrol Kona and then a mild hybrid Bayon, and was happy with them. The model I picked had a heads up display which (childishly) was the most important thing I wanted, the rest of the tech is great, from the smart cruise control, to the 3D cameras that can show all around the car when reversing. I have also discovered it automatically switches on the heated seat and steering wheel on a cold morning, and the seat cooler on a hot day. Ingenious!

Positives

The look of the car with the front and rear LED light strips looks great, and I absolutely love all the tech on board, particularly the heads up display.

Negatives

There is nothing I don’t like!

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

I’ve not really had it long enough to judge.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

None

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The smart cruise control which will slow down the car to a complete stop and then accelerate again when the car in front moves off, is very impressive. The heads up display shows the speed limit and any warning signs along with your current speed, plus any navigation instructions, even if you are not using the integrated sat nav.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Hyundai Kona N Line S

I think the 3D surround camera is an incredible feature. I remember one of my friends showing it off on his Audi Q7 Vorsprung, so it was a surprise to see it on a much cheaper car

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

I ignored all the myths and made up my own mind.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Renault Scenic E-Tech due to its excellent range.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Not used enough yet.

Insurance

Tesco insurance – I changed my car midway through a policy, so I only had to pay a very small supplement. I think most of the increase was for the pleasure of changing the policy, it was only £30.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Hyundai Kona N Line

The cost of the PCP is slightly more than I was paying; insurance road tax and servicing costs comparable. Since petrol has gone over £1.53 a litre, the energy costs are my main savings. I am due to move house in a couple of months and the new build property has a charger built-in, so I’m hoping to reduce my charging costs even further.
