Cookiesworld drives a Tesla Model 3 Long Range 75kWh 2025.
This is Cookieworld’s second electric car, he’s owned his Tesla Model 3 less than a year and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 250 miles range from an 80% charge.
Cookieworld bought an ex-demonstrator model which also came with a memory stick, storage bins and mats.
Why did you choose the Tesla Model 3?
Tesla were offering really good finance deals, it has a decent boot and it’s nice to drive with good safety features.
Positives
It’s really easy to drive, especially on the motorway. I don’t have the advanced auto pilot but the standard one does lane following and adaptive cruise control. It’s also fun with the rave cave and the ability to put cartoons in.
Negatives
The car doesn’t have sensors, it relies on on the cameras so sometimes it’s hard to get into a tight spot.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Yes, but it’s only been a few months.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
Not so far.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
- Adaptive cruise control
- large tablet with apps for music (Spotify, Apple etc.)
- ambient lighting which can change colours
- separate screen in the rear.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Tesla Model 3
The phone key is awesome! I always have my phone with me so I never need to worry about having a key.
What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
The batteries don’t last long and they are super expensive, when the truth is they will likely outlive the car.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Tesla model Y
Home charging unit
Pod Point (7kW) – It came free with my previous car. It works OK but the software is slow sometimes, it can take up to 10 minutes to update if I ask it to charge. I have an overnight tariff so usually just have a scheduled setup which I only override, occasionally.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Octopus Go (12 months fixed) – I get a cheap overnight rate of 8.1p/kW between 00:30 and 5:30 which is enough for my small usage, mostly commuting. Octopus are excellent, they have great rewards and good customer service, I sometimes even get paid to use electricity!
Do you use public charging networks?
No
Insurance
Aviva – they are reasonably-priced.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Tesla Model 3
I charge at night so my running costs are really low. I do pay £9.99 extra for connectivity and £190 road tax. The servicing is much cheaper as there’s no oil to change and brake wear is lower because of the regenerative braking.
