BMW iX1 M Sport 2024 Owner Review

Darren drives a BMW iX1 M Sport Pro 64kWh 2024.

This is Darren’s second EV and he’s owned the iX1 less than a year. He drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 10,000-15,000 miles. He achieves 190 miles range from an 80% charge. Darren added M sport brakes with red calipers, the Technology Plus Pack, Driving Assistant Professional & sun protection glass.

Negatives

  • Handling – does not hold grip very well when you use full power, although OK in a straight line. Hankook factory tyres are poor for gripping.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Great, no issues.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Connectivity – easily solved with an infotainment reset, once or twice a week.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

All driving aids in Technology Plus Pack, they’re not too intrusive. I especially like the adaptive cruise control.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your iX1 M Sport

Reliability, the whole package.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

BMW iX3 or Polestar 4

Electricity supplier & tariff

Octopus Energy & Intelligent Octopus Go – 11.30pm to 5.30am, 6 hours of cheap electricity. Customer service is excellent. No negatives.

Insurance

esure – same cover as other providers, just a little cheaper. You have to shop around and make sure you get the individual cover that’s right for you.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a BMW iX1

Oh yes, lots of money, at least £50 a week. It costs between £1-£2 a day to charge, that’s doing 50 to 70 miles a day, using a heavy right foot sometimes  and a lot of stopping and starting!
