Škoda ENYAQ SportLine 2023 electric car owner review

Škoda ENYAQ SportLine 2023 electric car owner review

Nigel drives a Škoda ENYAQ 210kW 85 SportLine 82kWh 2023 (standard spec) electric car.

This is Nigel’s first electric car, he’s owned the Škoda ENYAQ less than a year and drives 30,000-40,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 30,000-40,000 miles and he achieves a 250-mile range on average, from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the Škoda ENYAQ SportLine ?

Cheapest price & it beat the level of specification by far when compared with the same platform of car from Audi & VW.

Positives

  • Quiet
  • fast
  • comfortable
  • effortless to drive.

Negatives

  • Usual ‘vague’ Škoda software.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

The car is too new to notice any change. The main difference is getting used to the change in range between summer & winter charging/driving.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Random software faults that either disappear in time or when you stop and restart the vehicle.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

None really, I prefer cars with minimal technology. For instance, I always turn off lane detection; which numpty thought that would be a good idea?!

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Škoda ENYAQ SportLine

Electric boot opening/closing brings me much joy. I wait for my wife’s car boot to open before realising I have to do it myself!

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

Range anxiety – I’ve done 40k miles in a year with no home charger. I just charge at work or fast charge on the road, wished I’d gone for an electric car sooner.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Retiring soon, so something like a Renault 5 or KIA EV3.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

InstaVolt/Applegreen/GRIDSERVE all charge my car close to the maximum charge rate of 135kWh  whereas MFG maxes out at around 60kWh every time, including their 150kWh chargers with only me charging. As a result, I try to avoid MFG if I can.
