Škoda ENYAQ Coupe 2023 electric car owner review

Škoda ENYAQ 2023 electric car owner review

Steve drives a Škoda ENYAQ 80 Coupe Sportline Plus 2023.

This is Steve’s third electric car, he’s owned the Škoda ENYAQ from new and drives 20,000-30,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 0-500 miles and he achieves 290 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Škoda ENYAQ?

We had a Hyundai IONIQ previously and moved to a standard ENYAQ 60 (which we still have) on arrival of our second child as we needed something with more space. We like the car and space. A move of job unfortunately meant that the lease mileage was insufficient and the cost of increasing was expensive. It was cheaper to swap our remaining ICE car to electric.

Škoda happened to be doing a very good 0% PCP deal for ENYAQs to clear old stock ahead of the new 2024 model. We managed to get a higher specced car with the mileage we needed and all the options that we would have wanted before (but couldn’t) for less than our existing lease. No brainier really!

Positives

  • Boot space
  • looks
  • sunroof.

Negatives

  • Still not a fan of the “iPad on dash” look
  • the constant “concentrate on the road” if you have to change a setting whilst driving
  • inability to permanently turn off lane assist or other options.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

None so far.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Matrix lights are brilliant!

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The electric boot is great, although you can look like a bit of a fool waving your foot under the bumper trying to get the sensor to work!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Audi A6 e-tron Avant

Home charging unit

myenergi zappi 2 – went for this as have solar panels at home so can top up a bit via solar.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Octopus Intelligent is good, as you can get extra smart charging slots. Very useful if you’re having to charge from a flat. Not all chargers are integrated yet though. Also setting up on it can be a pain to get to work.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

InstaVolt, GRIDSERVE & Osprey.

Insurer

LV= fair price for swapping the car. Not sure what the renewal will be like when due though.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Škoda ENYAQ

Cost for commute with petrol would be about £14-16/day, whereas electric is about £2.
