Well, I didn't know that, did you? Part 1

We’ve been asking owners to tell us a fact or two others wouldn’t necessarily know about their EV.

So we thought we’d share some of the more interesting answers we’ve received to-date.

We had to start off with Natalie’s fact on her MINI Electric Cooper SE, we think this is brilliant.

Well, I didn't know that, did you? Part 1

‘MINI is spelled out in morse code when you start it.’

Natalie D – MINI Electric Cooper SE 32.6kWh 2022

‘360-degree camera, click on the left image of the car at each point and it switches the camera to that angle.’

James – Audi e-tron 50 S-Line 2021

‘The reviews have covered most things but one thing to note is how good the portable charger is that they give you. Power leads are interchangeable and there are commando and three phase options available. You could actually quite likely get by without installing a wall charger at all and still charge at 11kW.’

Tony – BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport 2022

‘There’s exciting hidden codes (BIMMER or BMW code) one can access via the onboard computer to personalise certain aspects of its performance.’

Julia – BMW i3S 120Ah 2022

‘Hidden tablet drawer with angled stand.’

David – Citroën e-C4 Shine Plus 50kWh 2023

‘It has some very bright puddle lights on the door which I didn’t know about and they look really cool. Shows a big CUPRA logo on the ground. The rear light bar and cluster look very cool a night, with the little BORN name badge inside the light itself. I don’t have it but would like to get the second floor for the boot. You can buy it separately later and fit it yourself relatively easily.’

John – CUPRA Born V1 58kWh 2022

‘If you use a feature in the sat nav, the car will automatically stretch out the battery over your outward and return journeys so you get the maximum mpg when in hybrid mode.’

Kash – CUPRA Formentor VZ1 e-hybrid 2021 PHEV

‘Internal door release is a push button.’

Dave – FIAT 500 La Prima 42kWh 2022

‘The frunk – excellent front storage with a drainage facility.’

Bob – Mustang Mach-E 98kWh 2021

‘Climate fan stops on incoming call, so quiet.’

Kenno – Mustang Mach-E AWD 68kWh 2021

Honda e 2020 electric car owner review

‘The rear view mirror is actually a camera.’

Chris – Honda e Advance 2020

‘The simple idea of a glove drawer instead of the usual glove box is genius. Not sure why I’ve never seen other manufacturers doing it as it’s far more useful.’

Lee – Hyundai IONIQ 5 Premium 58kWh 2023

‘It has a retractable tow bar and a reversing feature that allows the car to be reversed under a tow bar before deploying the tow bar and will self hitch onto the caravan.’

Richard – Jaguar F-PACE Plug-In Hybrid 18kWh 2022

Jaguar I-PACE 2019 electric car owner review

‘There’s an umbrella stowage under the rear seat that fits a large umbrella with a hooked handle. There is an assignable multifunction button on the steering wheel that you can select short and long press functions. I have mine set to mute the radio on short press or turn off the screens on long press for less glare when driving at night.’

Andy – Jaguar I-PACE 294kW EV 400 SE 90kWh 2019

‘Utility mode – one of those things most electric cars have that are a complete revelation. You can sit in your car with heating on, heated seats on and infotainment on running off the main traction battery. I do this in winter while my son is at football training!’

Jesper – KIA e-Niro 4+ 2021
