Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Bob drives a Mustang Mach-E 98kWh 2021.

This is Bob’s first electric car, he’s owned the Mustang Mach-E less than 1 year and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 250 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?

As a pensioner, its SUV characteristics (height) make it easy for entrance and exit. Mercedes couldn’t guarantee me delivery in under a year!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • NO faults!
  • one-pedal driving and intelligent Cruise Control make it very easy/safe to drive
  • roomy with an automatic tailgate and 365-degree camera. Makes it easy to own.
  • fast acceleration (under 6 secs 0-62) and instant power
  • looks ‘unique’ with its ‘Pony’ symbols and red coloured callipers
  • heated, auto-adjustable seats and heated windscreen
  • the panoramic sunroof makes it light inside & roomy!
  • ‘Automatic’ is fantastic/smooth!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Suspension is HARD, it drives like a go-kart, firm but accurate
  • no pre-heating of battery
  • few button controls!
  • automatic updates don’t always work.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

NO faults!!

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Intelligent Cruise Control
  • one-pedal driving
  • acceleration.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The frunk – excellent front storage with a drainage facility.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Repeat or possibly a Mercedes.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

bp pulse – I had to have it replaced after 9 months of use. Their latest, more ‘up-to-date’ charger was supplied and fitted without cost to me. Unfortunately, it was not recorded/allocated to me, so for nine months I could not access it on the bp App. This came to a head when (nine months after installation) it stopped working.

On contacting bp pulse they discovered the error! Having now got access to the charger, my ‘IT expert’ was able (in around an hour) to reconfigure the charger and link it correctly to my wi-fi hub. bp pulse hadn’t told me that the new charger was dependent on wi-fi!! This corrected the malfunction. Their advice was correct but took around 10 days, a little long to supply. Not recommended!

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

SSE – their service is good. Economy 7 supplied, therefore I have the supply at a reduced cost between 2am and 9 am when I charge my car (on its timer)! Recommended. Almost all of my charging is done at home!!

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

AXA Insurance – reasonably priced and good customer care. I haven’t had to claim so I have no negative comments.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Mustang Mach-E

Road Tax, servicing and energy costs. Possibly saving around £30 pm!
