Tesla Model 3 2021 electric car owner review

PatMK45 drives a Tesla Model 3 Long Range 2021.

This is Pat’s first electric car, he’s owned the Tesla Model 3 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 20,000-30,000 miles and he achieves 230 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Tesla Model 3?

I have always liked my cars and decided to go electric after road testing a number of EVs. The Tesla impressed the most through performance, technology and the driving experience coupled with the Tesla charging network and battery technology. It was a no brainer to purchase and we have not been disappointed.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • On board technology

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • None

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Slightly less range, otherwise still very good.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

None

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Autopilot
  • all the safety systems
  • the games & entertainment.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Onboard entertainment facilities which add fun to owning a car. Something other manufactures do not provide.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

Catching on fire – I worked in the industry for many years and believe me, petrol and diesel cars catch on fire too and at an alarming rate. EVs are not worse.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Tesla Model Y – it has more room and still retains all the Tesla technology.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Pod Point Solo – it’s been extremely good and highly recommended.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Intelligent Octopus Go

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Tesla Supercharger network, Connected Kerb & Pod Point.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Flow Insurance – the price hiked up by 50% this year. I don’t believe the insurance companies have properly sorted the repair networks for EVs and so drivers are consequently paying over the odds for repairs through general ignorance.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Tesla Model 3

I estimate it to be £1,023 per year on ‘fuel’.
