This is Steve’s fourth electric car, he’s owned the MG4 EV less than 1 year and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 200 miles from a full charge.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Range has dropped a little but only due to the cold weather.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
No faults
What are the standout technological features of the car?
Traffic jam assist is impressive on an entry level model. Basically self-drive in traffic. Radar cruise control too.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
“Batteries don’t last” – recent tests prove that they last a lot longer than you would expect.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
smart #1 BRABUS – To me, it’s the most complete compact EV available, including 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds and a really well designed car.

Ohme – can be controlled by the electricity company (Octopus) and so I get 7.5p per kWh.

EV charging at 7.5p per kWh, no negatives.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Price per kWh is expensive on all. Negatives include complicated method of accessing a charge.

Direct Line – provide a quality cover having had some experience from some claims over the years. Not the cheapest but the best.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an MG4 EV
- I save around £200 per month compared to fuel costs alone
- no road tax (until 2025)
- no congestion charge or ULEZ either
- brakes last much longer due to regen slowing you down rather than the brakes themselves.
