Michael drives a Škoda ENYAQ 80 Eco Suite 77kWh 2023.
This is Michael’s third electric car, he’s owned the Škoda ENYAQ from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 0-500 miles and he achieves 300 miles from a full charge.
Why did you choose the Škoda ENYAQ?
I had a VW ID.4 and was disappointed in the lack of updates from VW. I originally wanted an ENYAQ when I bought the ID.4 but Škoda were slow in bringing the ENYAQ to market and I’m getting too old to wait.

I cannot pick any feature that I find special to this car, which similar electric cars do not have.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Probably another ENYAQ.
Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements
myenergi zappi – it provides everything you might need including using excess solar for charging.
Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements
Octopus Go – which gives me 4hrs of cheap (9p per kWh) energy each night. I plan to change over to Octopus Intelligent which provides 6hrs each night at an even lower rate plus extra hours chosen by Octopus to suit costs and loading needs (all at the low rate).
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
InstaVolt, Tesla, Fastned and Osprey are my preferred providers because they are rarely faulty. I tend to avoid other providers as they are often broken. Also avoid most motorway chargers. There are usually more reliable chargers a short distance away from the motorway.
Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements
VW insurance – who were competitive when I got the ID.4 and remain so at the moment with the change of vehicle.
Please itemise where you’re saving money owning & running a Škoda ENYAQ
It’s difficult to say now as I haven’t had a non-electric car for more than 5 years.
