KIA EV6 2023 electric car owner review

IRO drives a KIA EV6 GT-Line S 2023.

This is IRO’s second electric car, he’s owned the EV6 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 260 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the KIA EV6?

Loved the style, the range is good, space in the car is good, the tech that comes in the GT-Line S model shows excellent value for money.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

No idea, there are some exciting models coming out over the next few years, not looking for awhile anyway.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

I have a Rolec. In the past, these have had a bad press for being unreliable but it has been used daily for the last 3.5 years without any problems at all. It is linked to the ev.energy app so can be set to charge at off-peak rates.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Octopus Energy – I’m on the Go Faster tariff of 8.5p/kWh off-peak and 40p/kWh peak. This rate is isn’t available now for new customers.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

InstaVolt are reliable and some are significantly cheaper than published rates. KIA charge card, Osprey and MFG are also reliable. Pod Point is a good option for slower destination charging.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a KIA EV6

It’s a salary sacrifice lease car so there is a tax saving with this. My lease also includes all servicing, maintenance, insurance and breakdown cover so not having to pay extra for any of those. I’ve worked out I will save between £600-700 per year on fuel compared to my previous PHEV and that is using a mix of public charging and off-peak home charging. It would be even more if I only used home off-peak charging.
