Rate the electric car on its exterior

What did you like/dislike like about the exterior?

I liked the understated exterior styling. The little details differentiating the car from its ICE-powered stablemates are very subtle. The blanked front grille with its chrome detail strips, blue headlight strips and the EQA badge on the front wings are the only obvious differences.

The AMG styled alloy wheels are to my taste, the tyre walls deep enough not to have kerbed alloy worries. The roof bars and privacy glass also add a touch of style. The impression is of a solid, well built vehicle.

Rate the electric car on its interior

What did you like/dislike like about the interior?

Opening the driver’s door and seeing the illuminated EQA on the sill is a nice welcome. The dark interior, seating and roof lining is tempered by the red stitching detail, grey metallic door and dash inserts and the polished vent surrounds in the centre.

The heated front seats are very comfortable and infinitely adjustable for rake, height and even depth. The front of the car is pretty much identical to its ICE counterparts. The rear however, has a striking difference in that the floor, due to the battery packs, is higher. This is fine for anyone under 6 feet, but at 6 feet two I found my knees slightly higher than I liked.
Otherwise the rear is spacious, the courtesy lighting is good and there is a USB C socket available.

The controls and instruments are well laid out and intuitive. Two screens blend seamlessly together, no huge screen stuck in the middle in this car. I liked the single control stalk controlling the indicators and wipers. The right-hand stalk is the Drive/Park/Neutral selector. I liked the familiarity of the interior. Not quirky, plenty of detail and absolutely screaming quality.

Rate the electric car for its tech features

What did you like/dislike about the tech features?

My one hour test drive didn’t allow time to really delve into the car’s tech features but those enhancing the driving experience were exceptional. The Lane assist and proximity alerts in the wing mirrors were very useful and something I had not experienced previously.

The drive modes are good, I drove in Eco most of the time but tried the comfort and sport modes on faster roads. The regeneration is adjustable using the paddles behind the steering wheel. I was particularly impressed with B- which allowed almost one pedal driving. All in all, this doesn’t seem an overtly techy car. Everything I tried was useful and enhanced the enjoyment of driving. And I did enjoy it.

Rate the electric car for how it drives

What did you like/dislike like about how it drove?

This car felt as though it was floating, smooth, silent & solid. I really couldn’t fault any aspect of the driving experience.
