KIA C’eed to a KIA Soul EV – Past, Present & Future, Jan 2023

KIA C'eed to a KIA Soul EV - Past, Present & Future, Jan 2023

Andrew has moved from a KIA C’eed 1.6l diesel 2012 to a KIA Soul EV 64kWh 2021.

Via our survey, ‘Past, Present & Future’, we want to understand peoples’ respective car ownership stories. With the current climate crisis, there’s never been a greater need for emission-free driving yet at the same time, people are facing rising (and record) energy & general living costs.

This could ultimately change what car & fuel type a lot of people choose next. Also, we are very mindful that not everyone is on the road to electric so we wanted to highlight some of the more diverse & interesting feedback we’ve received.

Tell us a little more about your KIA C’eed

I bought it because back then it was supposed to be clean. We know better now! It was a good family hatch, reliable, economic to run and quiet-ish for a diesel. By 2021, it was showing its age and the resale value was falling; it was not compliant with the London zone, where I go often to visit family, so I needed to start looking for a replacement.

Tell us a little more about your KIA Soul EV

Love this car! Good range, had 330 miles in summer (supposedly does 283!) and never below 250 in winter. Excellent battery management system. Spacious cabin. Easy to drive. Paddles to tweak the regen settings are a real boon and enable one pedal driving. Boot slightly small, the only drawback.

If you had to choose your next car today, what would it realistically be and why?

Lots of great cars around now but many are too big for my needs and expensive. Either another Soul EV or the MG4 EV would be top of my list.
