Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021 - Road trip report: Surrey to South Wales & back!

Ian drove from Surrey to South Wales in his Mustang Mach-E 89kWh 2021 electric car.

Introducing your road trip

Mine is the Extended Range 4WD with stated 313 miles range. Winter I was getting about 256 miles,  summer about 290 miles. Had a software update a couple of weeks before a trip to Wales from Surrey. Charged 100% before leaving showing 336 miles. Mainly M4 and first 2 nights in Cardiff then onto the Gower. Arrived in Gower with 100 miles left. Hotel there had 4 x 7kW chargers free to use. Travelled around while there recharging overnight. Left for home on 100% showing 313 miles, arrived home with just over 100 miles remaining. Free charging at home from Solar panels so complete trip was all for free.

Planning & preparation

Used FordPass App, Zap-Map App + Bonnet App to check availability of fast chargers en route if needed.

Charging

Only charged for free at hotel overnight.

Did you encounter any great driving roads on your road trip? If so, where were they and why were they great?

Many of the roads in Wales were very good with great scenery.

The Mustang Mach-E

Used intelligent cruise and lane keeping on 90% of the journey, including town speed limits. Very comfortable ride and less stressful with car adapting to traffic, speed limits etc. Interior temperature was great using a/c in 30 degree heat outside with little affect on battery drain.

Road trip conclusion

Great trip, no problems. Always use the EV.
