What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

A smaller car to replace our second Nissan LEAF.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

myenergi zappi 1.0 – diverts solar, programmable & a great UI. Had problems with it working when the car controls the charging so best when you let the charger manage it.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Intelligent Octopus – great night rate which means lowest possible cost to charge car and charge house battery overnight and when combined with solar brings the overall average rate much lower than the standard tariff. Probably need to be a bit geeky to get the most out of it!

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

  • InstaVolt – always working
  • Gridserve forecourts – plenty of chargers in one location
  • bp pulse – avoid, located in difficult to access locations with cost to park. Often broken or not accepting contactless and usually single unit sites where someone is blocking access or it’s in use.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Expensive!
