Nissan LEAF 2021 electric car owner review

Alan drives a Nissan LEAF Tekna 40kWh 2021 electric car.

This is Alan’s first electric car, he’s owned the Nissan LEAF from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 150 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Nissan LEAF?

My last few cars were from this manufacturer and I’ve found them very reliable. Also, the dealer I use have a great aftersales service, so reduced any anxiety I may have had in going electric. The dealer also used a LEAF as their courtesy car when my previous car was in for servicing so had a few test drives in the LEAF and found it to be a excellent car to drive.

We were finding that we were spending a lot of money on petrol getting my wife to and from her work plus various local journeys so took the decision to go electric. I’m lucky enough to have a drive so installed a charge point on my house thus further reducing costs. On average, our fuel costs have dropped to one fifth. We’ve had the car over a year now and haven’t had any problems whatsoever. We’re loving the instant acceleration, the comfort, the quietness and the ability to charge overnight. We did consider the 62kW version but after doing the maths and what our average weekly mileage is, we decided to stick with the 40kW.

Outline both positive & negative elements of your home charging unit

BP Chargemaster (it was the unit the dealership used) – I wished I’d done some homework before purchasing this charger as I wouldn’t recommend BP to any customer. There was a problem from the onset, the over voltage device kept tripping out (before I had the car). It took BP six weeks to rectify the problem after numerous phone calls and e-mails. It has worked faultless since though.
