Patrick McGrath runs a Kia EV6 GT Line S AWD electric car and shares his experiences to-date on public charging.
What do you think of the UK public charging network in general?
Poor. Compared to Europe, there are a lot of parts of the UK which don’t have fast chargers and it can be very difficult to find a fast charger using Zap-Map and other apps. A lot of chargers also need a dedicated RFID card instead of being able to use a credit card or an app but most chargers are located in areas where phone signals are poor or absent.

What’s got to change about public charging in the UK to get more people driving electric cars?
Fast chargers need to be as prevalent as petrol stations, with enough chargers at each site so queuing isn’t long. There should also be facilities so we have something to do while charging.
