What do you think of the UK public charging network in general?

Inadequate. Not enough chargers at charge stations, too many poorly maintained and TOO MANY UNNECESSARY APPS and not many operate at the advertised power.

What and where are your favourite UK public chargers?

Any InstaVolt charger, the electric forecourt at Norwich & Braintree and green 150kW bp pulse ones in Kettering.

What’s been your best experience with a UK public charger?

180kW from an IONITY charger at the A11/A47 at Thickthorn roundabout.

What’s been your worst experience with a UK public charger?

M4 Heston Services Eastbound when all Electric Highway chargers were out of action. Electric Highway chargers have always been responsible for my worst charging experiences. If they work, most times they cut out after 5 minutes. Fortunately they have been taken over by Gridserve.

What’s got to change about public charging in the UK to get more people driving electric cars?

Wireless charging, battery swaps, charging points in every lamp post, ensuring 99% work all the time at the stated capacity, obviously more home charging points and every fossil fuel garage having at least three fast chargers. Nationalise the network like Scotland and Ireland.
