Nissan LEAF – Road trip report

Nissan LEAF Road trip report

James Roy went on a road trip in Scotland in his Nissan LEAF.

Introducing your road trip

We covered a distance of 600 miles. From Fife to John O’ Groats and home over three days. The reason we travelled was to present a classic car to a museum at Halkirk in the far north of Scotland.

Planning & preparation

We used Zap-Map to plan our charging top-up stops to coincide with meal breaks. We did Fife to Inverness then Inverness to Wick then onto John O’ Groats. We did the same on the return journey.

Charging

We were lucky enough to use 40kW chargers on the journey. However, we were disappointed with the 40kW chargers at Inverness and Wick which were Pod Point and refused to work, this was the only problem we encountered on the trip.

Did you encounter any great driving roads on your road trip? If so, where were they and why were they great?

The coastline from Inverness to John O’ Groats is very scenic and a pleasure to drive on.

The  Nissan LEAF

Found our Nissan LEAF to perform very well on the trip. All the safety features were a great help, especially the feature which monitors and controls the distance from the vehicle in front.

Road trip conclusion

I would not hesitate to do long distant trips again in the Nissan LEAF. It was a great learning curve on squeezing as many miles as possible from a single charge.
