Provide your overall rating for the Pod Point charging unit.

Why did you purchase the Pod Point charging unit?

The charger came as part of my lease deal so it cost me nothing. The usual 7kW charging unit.

List 3 or more points that you like about the charging unit.

  • Scheduled charging is set to match the cheap rate electricity times 0030-0430.
  • Reliable unit
  • Not too obtrusive.

List 3 or more points that you don’t like about the charging unit.

  • Sometimes I wish it had a longer cable so I could park my car the other way round
  • The unit could be smaller.

Outline any faults you have experienced with the unit.

No faults experienced.

Tell us about your home charging routine.

We have 2 electric cars and so one is usually on charge. We do not cover very high mileage, usually a few hundred miles a week. We aim to keep the cars almost fully charged just in case we need to do a long journey. We have done long journeys and after that, it takes a few days to fully recharge because of the limited cheap hours on my contract.

If you were buying a new charging unit now, what would you buy and why?

The Pod Point is a good unit and a different unit would need to give me some significant extras to convince me to change.

Tell us about your electricity provider and tariff. Would you recommend them?

Octopus Energy Go – 5.5p cheap rate between 0030 and 0430. Standard rate at other times.

Are you part of a charger-sharing scheme for those who don’t have their own charger?

No. I wasn’t aware of one.
