What was your dealership experience like?

I work away from home and contacted the dealership whilst away, they arranged the test drive for my return from work and also placed a factory order car to ensure we could get the deal that was on if we decided to go ahead. They also promised to cut the lead time if we went ahead with the sale. It was an all round positive experience with the dealership.

What were your first impressions of the Mazda MX-30?

I currently drive a Mazda MX-5 so many of the features were familiar to me which made the first impressions favourable. The main downside was the room in the back seats, we could see straight away that it was going to be an issue for our 2 and 6 year olds, especially as they grow. Also, when getting the kids in it it became clear the doors (while looking cool) would be impractical in tight spaces up town, swimming pools, karate club etc etc.

Positives – List 3 or more things you liked about the electric car.

  • The car looks great
  • Handles great
  • It has a high spec
  • Tech is easy to use.

Negatives – List 3 or more things you didn’t like about the electric car.

  • Poor room for rear passengers, even very young ones
  • Range, only 120 official so probably lower
  • Doors are not very practical.

Did you purchase the Mazda MX-30 you test drove or another electric car from the same manufacturer?

No.

What other electric cars are you considering and what attracts you to them?

We also tested a Nissan LEAF and ended up purchasing one. Much, much more room in the back for children and adults and a larger range.
