Why did you choose this car?
The styling is brilliant and I love the sense of open space in the car. The interior space is excellent for dogs and passengers too.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car?

  • Styling
  • the driving feel and the Bluelink App are great features of the IONIQ 5.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car?

  • The size
  • the cost of new tyres
  • the lack of a sunroof
  • actually difficult to think of many negatives!

Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
I am still getting used to the amount of people who want to look at and talk about my car, whether I’m parked up or they see me driving around.

What car are you interested in next and why?
I really hope to keep this car for a while, however the Nissan LEAF is an exceptional family car for a bargain price. But the IONIQ 5 styling won me over!

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Currently I don’t have one. I used the 3-pin cable to charge up to 80% when I got the car home, then I’ve been topping up for free at the gym and supermarkets. I’m also lucky enough to get free charging at work, so I am considering not getting a home charger installed, but if I do it’ll be a Hypervolt, although Pod Point appeals to me purely on price. I love a deal!

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
British Gas – we find tariffs using MSE’s Cheap Energy Club. Currently locked in until April. We did think about switching to Octopus Go as they were great last time we used Octopus and we could run the kitchen appliances and charge up at night for 1/3 of the cost but right now isn’t the best time to leave a reasonably frugal tariff.

What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Pod Point and SWARCO so far. Public Pod Point chargers seem to be in varying states of repair, the Swarco ones seem stable but I have only used it once on the first day to get home. Instavolt and Osprey seem to be the best for speed, price and potential availability.

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Admiral Multicar – neither good nor bad.
