Jules drives a Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD 75kWh, standard specification.
This is Jules’s third EV and he’s owned the Model Y 2-3 years. He drives 20,000-25,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 50,000-60,000 miles. He achieves 190 miles range from an 80% charge.
Why did you choose this car?
The performance, the space, the practicality, the app, and the charging network which is second to none; a great ownership experience. It’s the standard car, there was no need to add anything else to the spec.
Positives
The Tesla charging network – it’s speed, ease of use, the app & the space.
Negatives
- Price when new versus the depreciation
- Cost of public (non-Tesla) charging
- Lack of charging infrastructure in some parts of UK.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
No problems at all, still 100%.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
Yes, there was an incorrectly sized alloy fitted to the car, this was rectified easily and without any issues.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
The user interface.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Model Y
The hidden gems like games, YouTube etc. for when you are charging or stuck in traffic.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Another Tesla, hands down. The updated models are much better.
Home charging unit
Pod Point
Electricity supplier & tariff
Octopus Go
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Tesla – due to prices and compatibility with the car. Sadly now, non-Tesla EVs can use them; so some Tesla charging sites are occasionally fully occupied or due to charge points on the wrong side, these non-Tesla EVs are double-blocking charging stations.
