Andrew drives a Honda e:Ny1 61.9kWh, standard specification.
This is Andrew’s second EV and he’s owned the Honda e:Ny1 2-3 years. He drives under 5,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles. He achieves 180 miles range from an 80% charge.
Why did you choose this car?
Too good a deal. Cheaper than the Vauxhall Corsa plus it came with 5 years servicing, warranty and roadside assistance.
Positives
Comfortable, easy to drive, good tech and enough range and space for my needs.
Negatives
Regen could be stronger.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Still seeing it match the quoted 256 in recent weeks.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None
What are the standout technological features of the car?
Adaptive cruise control with lane assist and the traffic assist features.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Honda e:Ny1
It’s more fun than it looks!
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
smart#1/#3, Kia EV2/3, BYD Dolphin/Atto 2 – all seem to be well made, received good reviews and would meet my requirements.
Home charging unit
Pod Point Solo
Electricity supplier & tariff
Octopus Go – Company is easy to deal with and I’m more than happy with the tariff. No negatives.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
- Tesla Supercharger Network – Easy to use and cheaper than most
- IONITY – Electroverse card and IONITY work so well together
- Osprey/MFG/InstaVolt – Card and app work well although the latter is pricey
- GRDISERVE – Have to use their app but it’s always worked.
No real negative experiences with any of the above.
Insurance
Hastings Direct – been with them for a few years. Had to ring re: price a couple of times when comparing prices but they’ve always matched them.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Honda e:Ny1
Most of my charging is at home so so much cheaper. When on holiday, charging costs increase but overall I’ve saved £000’s.
