Noel drives a Hyundai IONIQ 38.3kWh 2022.

This is Noel’s second EV and he’s owned the IONIQ 4-5 years. He drives under 5,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 10,000-15,000 miles. He achieves 160 miles range (in winter) and 200 miles range (in summer) from an 80% charge. Noel added in all the additional spec he could, e.g. sunroof.

None, this car is amazing, I love it! More range would be nice, but I don’t want to change it because it’s so good.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

The battery performance is as fresh as day one, no deterioration in 4 years.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Minor errors rectified immediately at no cost; excellent servicing and repairs.

Cooled air flow through the seats in the summer, heated seats and steering wheel in the winter.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

I don’t want to lose this one, but Polestar looks attractive. I’d go for a top of the range Polestar or stick with an IONIQ with the same spec as the one I’ve got.

Home charging unit

I don’t ever use my charging point, I just plug into a 13 amp socket over night. I used my charging point once, but I don’t need to, as an overnight charge is a full charge anyway. I only got the charging point because I thought I needed one, but I don’t!

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Only when I’m on holiday. I avoid them all and just use an extension lead to the nearest 13 amp socket; if it’s in a hotel room, its free, so even better!

Amazing savings, feels like free motoring. I used to pay £50-£70 pounds a fortnight on petrol, now it costs nothing, virtually. My electricity bill is the same as it was 5 years ago!
