Martin drives a Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer 86kWh 2025.
This is Martin’s first electric car, he’s owned the ID.7 less than a year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 250 miles range from an 80% charge. Martin added a tow bar.
Why did you choose the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer?
I didn’t want Chinese and the ID.7 Tourer has a good spec, is very comfortable, is a great drive, looks good and has a reasonable towing capacity.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None
What are the standout technological features of the car?
- In-built navigation is very good
- the massage function is heaven

- multi-adjustable drive and suspension is brilliant.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your ID.7 Tourer
Best combination of quietness, comfort & performance – it’s fun!
What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
Scary reverse braking is so, so sudden! I once thought I’d hit a tree, I got out of the car and was 1m away. The driver in the car behind was killing himself laughing 🤣
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Let’s wait and see if the government reduces all the company tax benefits; if they do, this will be my first and last EV.
Home charging unit
Ohme Home Pro
Electricity supplier & tariff
OVO Anytime
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Not enough experience. On one trip, three chargers weren’t working so I had to drive within 30 miles of range but found a brilliant fast charger in Campbelltown.
