Polestar 2 2025 electric car owner review

Polestar 2 2025 electric car owner review

Roel drives a Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor 79kWh 2025.

This is Roel’s second electric car, he’s owned the Polestar 2 less than a year and drives 15,000-20,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 250 miles from an 80% charge. Roel added the Pilot & Plus Pack and a towbar.

Why did you choose the Polestar 2?

The Polestar 2 is a car both myself and my wife really like; both visually as well being nice to drive with the right amount of buttons and tech for us. It still feels like a car and not some weird spaceship with just screens. The Plus Pack seats offer amazing comfort & support on long drives, charging with the inclusive charge card is super easy and our son doesn’t get sick in this one compared to others we tried. The ADAS systems are well tuned and not intrusive and using it to tow trailers is a breeze with very acceptable range and features like towbar view for reversing!

Positives

The looks, the driving experience and overall ease of use.

Negatives

The mobile app keyless function doesn’t appear to work for us. But the car itself has been great so far.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes. On very hot or cold winter day things take a bit longer, but the car informs you about its battery status at all times. The built-in Google route planner works really well and adjusts based on charge and climate conditions.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

The infotainment screen went blank a few times after OTA updates but always recovered within seconds. One time there was an issue with a ‘charge error’ but that was due to a faulty fast charger rather than the car.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Google/Android Auto is standard on all Polestars and it works really well. Apple CarPlay is standard too. All the apps you might like to use can be downloaded onto the car and it can be setup just like your phone. Another tech feature which stands out as a positive is the ADAS systems. They work in the background without being intrusive and annoying. No bongs and bings in the Polestar 2 (unlike the Polestar 3 & 4, which are much worse here, in my opinion).

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Polestar 2

Although it does not have a ‘camping mode’ it’s a great car for camping with the addition of a tailgate tent. The HVAC can be programmed via your phone to keep you cool/warm all night and in the evening a bit of YouTube or video streaming before bed makes it quite fun to use as a camping rig. The slightly raised ride height helps as well for those more rural and rugged Scandinavian campsites. Heater and climate are amazing as well (designed for arctic winters).

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

The Polestar 5 is really nice but a very expensive upgrade from the 2. We might transition to the Polestar 3 first so we have some extra space for our camping adventures.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Polestar offers the Polestar Charge App & card with new car, it’s a Plugsurfing partnership. Both the service and app are great. Works seamless at pretty much all chargers and it’s very up-to-date with new chargers added as they become operational. The price is obviously higher over home charging but for us it’s not possible at our apartment.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running your Polestar 2

Running costs are much cheaper over my wife’s old BMW 330i, for example. Road tax is much lower and servicing is free for the first 3 years.
