Sid Wilson drives a BMW iX3 M50 108.7kWh 2026
This is Sid’s fourth EV and he’s owned his BMW iX3 less than a year. Sid drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles. He achieves on average, 400-450 miles range from an 80% charge. Sid’s iX3 also has a panoramic roof, heated steering wheel, 21-inch alloys, tow hitch, M Sport steering wheel, auto parking and the Service Pack.
Why did you choose the BMW iX3?

Positives
- The range
- the comfort

- it’s incredibly quiet
- style and interior – especially the panoramic display on the windscreen
- the BMW assistant voice control is pretty good too.
Negatives
Mainly the software, it’s incredibly complex and unintuitive. Simple things are a nightmare to find or simply don’t work despite it being in the instruction manual. They need to look at Tesla to see how it’s done. The steering wheel/driving assistance is downright dangerous. Supposed to assist you hands free and suddenly disengages for no reason. Can’t trust it at all.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Only had it a couple of months so can’t say at this time.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
Mainly software issues that I haven’t bothered to get sorted yet. Nothing major.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
To be honest, I’m underwhelmed by the BMW software. It feels like it’s in its infancy compared to my Teslas. It’s very unintuitive and clunky by comparison. Just hope BMW sort it out. It’s the worst thing about this otherwise, really good car.

I love Octopus Energy, a really good supplier and the EV tariff is cheap during the night.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Tesla Superchargers are great…others on motorways not always working or very expensive.

Mmm, not sure. My previous Tesla did. This BMW? Not sure. Cheap on electricity but that’s not all the story. Depreciation is a major cost so I will see.
