Andrew Ward drives a Škoda Elroq SE 52kWh 2025
This is Andrew’s first electric car, he’s owned the Škoda Elroq less than a year and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves on average, 180 miles on an 80% charge.
Why did you choose the Škoda Elroq?
- Colour (Timiano Green)
- registration has my initials (lol)
- condition was excellent (1 owner and under 3k miles)
- design was similar in some respects to our old Yeti
- he entry level equipment was still pretty impressive.
We bought our Škoda to replace our ageing Yeti 1.2 Elegance DSG. We stuck with the brand having test driven a 2026 ID.4, which we found boring to be quite honest. Standard specification, no bells or whistles.
Positives
- Colour
- drives beautifully

- accommodated 4 adults and 1 child in car seat on 162 mile trip (our longest to date!) on run to Norfolk
- feels solid
- excellent seats
- excellent driving position
- easy to get in and out of.
Negatives
- That awful cup holder – too narrow for 2 ‘normal’ size takeaway cups!
lack of sunglasses storage - infotainment screen ‘rolling’ on 2 occasions so far, sorted itself out after the car was locked and opened 10 mins later
- lack of removable floors in storage bins to aid cleaning
- no dashcam USB outlet behind rear view mirror on base model….a little mean tbh.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
- After 2,700 miles, we are very happy
- charges of 100% giving a displayed range of 250 miles
- Miles/kWh average is around 4.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
Rolling infotainment screen – rectified itself but happened twice since July.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
- Auto hold is brilliant!
- infotainment is OK but I bought a tech wizard box and its fantastic now
- rear sensors work very well and activated brakes when another car travelling very fast in a car park, almost hit us as we reversed out of a parking space
- lights are excellent
- interior ambient lights are very nice.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Škoda Elroq
It didn’t cost as much as most friends and family assume!!
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Škoda Peaq – had 7 seater vehicles before (e.g. Alhambra) but a bit out of our price range currently!
Home charging unit
Hypervolt Home 3 Pro – Funky light effects, 10m cable, nothing to not like tbh.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Octopus EV tariff – all good so far, Electroverse app and card are brilliant. No complaints!
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Osprey and MFG are the best. Several charging providers had cables stolen recently, 7 sites in total, seems a national issue.

My Yeti was drinking £20 of unleaded for 100 miles of range. The Elroq costs under £10 to charge on a cheap rate at home to go from 20 to 100%. No brainer tbh.
