‘My second Polestar 2 LRSM’ drives a Polestar 2 82kWh 2025, funnily enough.
This is ‘MSP’s’ third electric car, they’ve owned the Polestar 2 less than a year and drive 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and they achieve 250 miles from an 80% charge.
Why did you choose the Polestar 2?
This is my 2nd Polestar 2 LRSM. The car is comfortable, quiet, superbly finished, has very quick acceleration and is economical. I covered 42K trouble-free miles in the first car in 3 years. It required new front tyres at 37k miles (Michelin Primacy – £189 each fitted) and a replacement front sensor which had been damaged by a stone chip.
3 times a year I drive to Spain, 810 miles. The first car had 320 miles WLTP range requiring 4 charging stops using Tesla rapid chargers. The new car with 409 mile WLTP only requires 3, no more than we would stop in an ICE car.
Most charging is done at home on an Ohme Pro unit on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff at 7p per kWh which costs less than 2p per mile; the actual consumption is 27.2 kWh per 100 miles. Would I consider going back to a dirty noisy slow ICE? NO!
Positives
- See comments above.
Negatives
- Nothing!
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Yes, no issues with the previous 3 year old car, either. The 90% range in summer is 300 miles but this reduces to 290 in winter.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None
What are the standout technological features of the car?
The car has a 360 degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping guidance, emergency automatic braking, blind spot warning and Google Maps navigation with dynamic traffic monitoring.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Polestar 2
The acceleration!
What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
I don’t take any notice of the misinformation from people who don’t actually drive an EV.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
I will buy another Polestar.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Intelligent Octopus Go
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Tesla – always space, rapid charging and a reasonable cost.
Insurance
LV= on a multi-car policy, no issues.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Polestar 2
Running costs under 2p per mile compared to 14p for diesel. Nil servicing, insurance similar.
