Renault Megane E-Tech 2022 Owner Review

Renault Megane E-Tech 2022 Owner Review

Dino drives a Renault Megane E-Tech 60kWh 2022, standard spec.

This is Dino’s first electric car, he’s owned the Megane E-Tech 2-3 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 20,000-30,000 miles and he achieves 220 miles range on an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the Renault Megane E-Tech?

  • Narrow enough to fit in the garage
  • looks and comfort
  • the ride is not as harsh as similar EVs.

Positives

  • Ride
  • comfort
  • light steering
  • very agile
  • good steering lock.

Negatives

Noise under pedals when on regen – Renault refused to accept this even though they had to add extra bolts to the sub frame when one year old.

Very bad visibility on right pillar – this is made worse with huge wing mirrors. I find it difficult to see on my right particularly in the dark or raining.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes, the same.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Noise and movement by the pedals when regen is on full. Renault have not found any fault and I am reporting this for the 3rd time.

Warning lights keep popping up. Warning light cannot be fixed and Renault know the fault but have yet to come up with rectification.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

I love maps showing on the main dashboard. Infotainment is excellent but sometimes it.just drops out.
I like the fact that you can personalise driving features.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Octopus Intelligent tariff combined with Ohme Home Pro charger – excellent!

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurance

Admiral – extras include home recovery, legal etc. Very expensive at around £1,600 because of one accident and over 80 years old.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Renault Megane E-Tech

  • Charging the car at 7p per kWh is very cheap
  • 3 years service upfront was very cheap
  • 5 year warranty is comforting
  • Pity the Government are introducing road tax to drive electric (cost per mile). By 2028 it will cost the same as diesel and petrol, in my opinion.
