Gerry Thomson drives a Ford Capri Extended Range RWD 79kWh 2025.
This is Gerry’s first electric car, he’s owned the Capri less than a year and drives between 10,000-15,000 miles per year. The current mileage is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 286 miles range from an 80% charge.
Gerry added a heat pump & the Driver Assist Pack.
Why did you choose the Ford Capri?
I have been following EV development for a long time having nearly become an early adopter of the MG ZS EV when launched but I couldn’t make the range work for my lifestyle. It’s become easier now they do longer range models and I can charge at work or at home.
Why the Capri? Ford were running a ‘Win a Capri’ competition and all you had to do was take a test drive. I absolutely loved it, it’s smooth, fast and has all the tech I need, and more importantly, it has the range I need in my 50-mile daily commute. On average, I need just one charge a week which I can do either at home or at work.
Positives
- Range
- power
- tech.
Negatives
- None so far.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Yes
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None
What are the standout technological features of the car?
The MEB platform Ford got from partnering with VW has got to get a mention. I love the heads up display and the extremely large screen position; it’s inbuilt to the dash and not stuck on top like a lot of others. giving it a clean look.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Ford Capri
Preconditioning, best thing ever! Every morning the car is nice and warm and as the weather turns colder, it’s a winner.
