‘A Spring in your step’ drives, unsurprisingly, a Dacia Spring Extreme 25kWh 2024 (with tinted rear windows).
This is Spring’s second electric car, he’s owned the Spring less than 1 year and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 90 miles range from an 80% charge.
Why did you choose the Dacia Spring?
- Cheap & cheerful
- quite good specification
- cheap to ‘refuel’
- nippy around town.
Positives
- Easy to drive
- good specs
- easy to park
- good size boot
- roomy for 4.
Negatives
Infotainment system 7 sat nav – the sat nav has never worked from day 1. Flashed software (x3), new screen, now waiting on order for 2nd. Dacia have raised a ticket as they can’t figure it out.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Yes and yes. I have a granny charger and a wallbox and the wallbox is set to a low rate of charge. I charge overnight on a cheap rate.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
Infotainment system as above (not fixed). Spurious warnings: ‘Take a break’ – only driving for 5 minutes; ‘Check comfort chassis’ (Dacia can’t figure this out) & ‘Keep control’ yet both hands are on the wheel!
What are the standout technological features of the car?
Electric windows (x4), central locking, aircon, good heater and connectivity to phone mirroring.

So Energy – 1-year variable.
Do you use public charging networks?
No
Insurance
Admiral – reasonable. I was previously with LV who refused to insure me and then tried to reduce a refund by adding their charges; I explained it wasn’t my fault. Got ombudsman involved and they have refunded the whole of the previous fee.
