Doug B drives a Peugeot e-208 GT 51kWh 2025.
This is Doug’s third electric car, he’s owned the Peugeot e-208 less than 1 year and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 200 miles range from an 80% charge.
Why did you choose the Peugeot e-208?
Having owned and enjoyed driving a previous Peugeot e-208 we were keen to extend the range of the battery. The new 51kWh battery on this model offers an additional 50 miles range (up to 245 miles) on our previous e-208, which is ideal for our current use.
The e-208 GT comes with a pretty high spec and like our previous model is very easy and comfortable to drive both in the city of Glasgow and in the countryside. The acceleration is also very impressive.
As one of the smaller electric cars, the e-208 can accommodate 3 adults in the back and the boot space is ample. Another positive is the charging cable in this new car is more robust than the previous model and comes in a quality holder. The interior finish is excellent, a simple and clear dashboard, and the 3-stripe exterior light cluster is pleasant to look at.
In summary, the latest e-208 is more refined than its predecessor, continues to offer a lovely drive and the interior comfort and overall specification are excellent.
Positives
- High battery range (up to 245 miles) for a small car
- quality interior specification
- comfortable seats
- great to drive
- good (bright) colour range for this model.
Negatives
- Battery range tends to drop in poor weather conditions.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
The car is still relatively new and the battery level has not changed since purchasing earlier in the year.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
No faults experienced as yet.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
- Easy to use touchscreen controls with some physical buttons
- exceptionally clear rear camera and all-round sensors
- compact steering wheel
- speed recognition system/sound warning is at an acceptable level
- Apple CarPlay is easy to set up and use
- good quality sound system.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Peugeot e-208
- The variable internal coloured mood lights are pleasant to the eye
- the keyless entry and exit from the 208 GT is a positive addition to this new model.
What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
Too many non-electric drivers are happy to criticise the cost of electric cars. If you shop around there are some great deals which I experienced when buying my Peugeot e-208.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
With the comfortable drive and quality I have experienced with two Peugeot e-208s, I would consider the e-3008 as a future purchase.
Home charging unit
myenergi zappi – looks good and is easy to use. The connection cable easily wraps round the charger when not in use.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Intelligent Octopus Go – provides highly competitive off-peak charging rates to charge our electric car. I have only one negative with this supplier, the high daily standard charge as experienced with all companies.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
ChargePlace Scotland – are pretty good but far too many of their chargers are now obsolete.
Insurance
Hastings Direct – offered the most competitive premium but I will continue to shop around at renewal.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Peugeot e-208
- Energy costs to charge this car are significantly less than that of my previous petrol cars
- service costs are still relatively high for the limited work required.
