CUPRA Born V3 2024 electric car owner review

CUPRA Born V3 2024 electric car owner review

Lorenzo drives a CUPRA Born V3 59kWh 2024.

This is Lorenzo’s second electric car, he’s owned the CUPRA Born 1-2 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 165 miles range from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the CUPRA Born?

  • Style
  • sunroof
  • great audio system
  • beautiful interior
  • massage seats
  • more than enough range for my needs.

Positives

Everything about it is perfect for me. The overall size/interior and comfort level for 4 people is fantastic, I would never carry 5 people though. It has hatchback versatility, inexpensive to run and it’s been flawless too. No faults other than the infotainment crashing once when I first got it but it’s never happened since.

Negatives

Real world fast charging speed isn’t terrible but not great either – slowest has been 45kW and the fastest I’ve seen has been 93kW.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

The display froze once and I did a hard reset which fixed it; no other issues.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The app settings for charging & air conditioning/heating.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your CUPRA Born

Massage seats – I didn’t care for them initially, I just chose the V3 for the nicer materials on the seat! I now use the massage function more often than expected, especially on long journeys.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

They all catch fire, a death trap!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Renault 4 – optional power canvas sunroof.

Home charging unit

Simpson & Partners – looks great, performs flawlessly, no negatives.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Intelligent Octopus Go – great app and flexible settings, plug my car in and it schedules the charge depending on grid needs automatically. My car is fully charged by a set time. Perfect tariff for my needs and compliments my solar and home battery well.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Osprey – reliable and delivers the quickest rate of charge for my car. They can be more expensive than other networks though.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a CUPRA Born V3

I’m saving approx. £100 a month in fuel and the service plan for 3 years was £163 from CUPRA. The first service isn’t for 2 years or 20k miles. Also, the insurance was about £200 less than my previous policy!
